green postcards - part 3

Holy Guacamole, green is popular!
The card count is currently at 86.
There are still many to be scanned, but I figured I'd better post some more today to keep the blog posts a somewhat reasonable length.

I am always totally inspired by Carlene's stitching.

Ellen's got a great mix of collage and washi tape, and makes great use of some vintage stamps.

Gina's cards feature not only her awesome lino cuts, but ephemera from her recent travels

Corrine  also makes excellent use of washi tape, and do I detect gelli prints there too?

Janet, after many months of good intentions, is "Actually doing a postcard swap"
I'm so glad, Janet dear!

A great big welcome to Joyce, who is swapping for the first time.
I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to know people are taking their first leap into swapping with MMSA.

Tune in tomorrow for even more green!

Jean's collage sheet challenge - part 1

I've received some great postcards made from Jean's collage sheet.
I love seeing everyone's personal spin on these challenges.  As people start to swap more frequently, I'm beginning to recognize everyone's individual style.  It's fun to see it shine through in spite of the limits placed by the nature of the swap.

There's still a few days left before these have to be in the mail.
All the swap details can be found here.

Lee's collage sheet challenge - mail by April 15th

Our next fabulous collage sheet comes from Lee.
Download the sheet and use it however you see fit to make a postcard.
You can alter the images, resize them, cut them, duplicate them, etc.

You don't have to use all of them.

You can add paint or crayon or marker or writing or embellishments, but don't add any images other than the ones on this sheet.
SWAP DETAILS:

  •  Create your postcard - any dimensions, just make sure you include the proper postage for the size.
  • Include your name and contact information on the back (address and/or email and/or blog) so that you partner can thank you or find out more about you.
  • it's nice if you write a little message for  your partner (something about you, a quote, how you made your card, etc.)
  • Write MMSA somewhere on the back of the card as well.  (I don't know about you, but I get a lot of mail, and it's sometimes hard to figure out if it's part of an organized swap or just personal mail.)
  • leave the address section blank
  • Stick in in an envelope with:
    • a stamp (don't adhere to the postcard in case I need to send yours to someone out of the country)
    •  a mailing label with your name and address on it (I will stick it on the card I mail back to you.  This keeps me from having to decipher handwriting on the envelope you send me, and saves me time when swapping everything and mailing it back out)
  •  mail it to me no later than April 15th
             Karen Isaacson
             PO Box 532
             Shrewsbury, MA 01545
             United States

  • Feel free to make more than one ( you can send them to me in the same envelope).  You'll get back the number of postcards you create.  Make sure to include a mailing label and stamp for each post card.
  • If you live outside the US, don't include stamps, but send me $1 for postage via paypal.  email: iamrushmore@gmail.com
  • I will post your work to the blog when I receive it.  If you would like your image linked to your website, or blog, or flickr account, or facebook page (or whatever) just send me a note telling me how you want it linked.  (this is a great way to meet other artists and make lots of new friends)
Five more wonderful folks have sent me collage sheets for future challenges.  Thanks to everyone who submitted for your generosity and quick response!
Keep your eyes open for challenges from Steph, Leslie, Ria, Currie and Terrie in the coming months.

MMSA flickr group

I just created a flickr group for MMSA art.  If you're on flickr and have swapped with MMSA, please join the group and start adding your swap items to the group pool.  There's a badge of the sidebar of the blog which will always show the three most recent pictures in the pool.  Click on it and it will take you to the group.
The general public will be able to view the pictures in the group pool, but only people who have participated in MMSA swaps will be able to join the group and post pictures.

and if you're not on flickr - why the heck aren't you?
It's free and easy and a great way to share your pictures and comment on other people's pictures and get to know your fellow swappers a bit better.

through my window - part 2

Here are the remaining "window" cards, getting ready to go out to their new homes.
I love the wonderfully creative visions everyone came up with.

If any of these guys are hanging around Barbara's windows, I'm heading to her house for a visit.

Judith's "world of mysteries" includes the view of a pool and seascape from her recent travels.  Hopefully the lion didn't come in for a visit.

Frances does a lot of art experiments with her grandkids and uses her on-line research to inspire her own work.

Currie started with a photograph of one of her actual windows, and worked some photoshop magic.

Lynn combats her actual cold, dreary Connecticut view with this oasis.
Being from the same gray region of the country, I'm considering taping this card to my window.
