Hello Mail Art Swappers,

I just checked the online USPS site for current postal costs:

1st CLASS LETTER - 60 cents

SECOND OUNCE - 24 cents

SQUARE ENVELOPE - 99 cents

LARGE ENVELOPE - starts at $1.20

That's it for now...

Honi

This swap was prompted by a  movement "Inktober" started by Jake Parker in 2009 (?) where artists were challenged to design their creations using only INKS.  Since there are many various types of ink, applicators and stencils, i.e.

OPEN-THEMED ARTIST'S TRADING CARDS SWAP - POSTMARK BY MONDAY, NOVEMBER 14th

by hhc

Here's another break from post card art.  Make 1 - 5 Artist's Trading Cards to be exchanged with your swap partners.  You choose the subject/theme/media.

by hhc
Beginning with a full sheet of cardstock is a quick-starter: design an overall background pattern and then cut it up into ATC-sized pieces, adding finishing details so each can be different (if you want them to be).

Nine (9) cards can be made from an 8+1/2 by 11
piece of cardstock...  (by hhc)

NOTE:  If you use cardboard or poster board instead of cardstock as a base, please enclose extra postage to cover the cost of sending your nonmachinable art along to your swap partner(s).

THEME:  Your choice
FORMAT:  Artist Trading Cards
MEDIA:  Your choice
TECHNIQUE:  Paint, sketch, collage, rubber stamp, etc.
SIZE PARAMETERS:  2+1/2" x 3+1/2" (or 3+1/2" x 2+1/2")
CHECKLIST:
  • SELF-ADDRESSED LONG or LARGE ENVELOPE
  • NON-MACHINABLE POSTAGE - 80-cents
  • WAXED PAPER BETWEEN EACH PIECE

SWAP DETAILS:
  • You may send in as many as five ATC's.  (You will get back the same number you send, each from a different artist)
  • Mail your ATC's to your host in an envelope, and your host will mail out the swapped ATC's in the self-addressed envelope you provide.
  • If you're sending more than one ATC, please insert waxed paper or parchment between the cards so they don't get stuck together in the envelope.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND WRAPPING ATC'S SEPAERATELY, LAY THEM OUT FLAT, THEN USE WASHI TAPE TO ATTACH THEM SIDE-BY-SIDE.  SEVERAL MMSA SWAP ARTISTS HAVE HAD THEIR MAIL MAULED BY THE PO.  IF WE KEEP IT FLAT (SO THEY DON'T SHIFT AND PILE UP IN THE ENVELOPES) - THEY MIGHT HAVE A BETTER CHANCE OF GETTING TO THEIR PROPER DESTINATION.

  • Please write your return address or email address on the back of each ATC
  • so the recipient can thank you.
  • Enclose a self-addressed envelope and non-machinable postage (currently 80-cents)
