Collage over Alcohol Inks - by hhc |
This is not a swap listing, but I want to share a few thoughts about something that just happened.
Today I was considering how our local postal clerk is so dependable about handling the mail, and realized that I have never given this person any of my art although our MMSA group art crosses the postal counter several times a month. So I took in a recently created art post card with a note of thanks.
For some reason this prompted the postal clerk to show me a collection of folded restaurant napkins, some white, some brown, each with amazingly detailed black ink sketches. I was told that one of the postal patrons left several of his drawings on the counter, and after that he began bringing in some more.
I was so impressed with the quality of his drawings, and also with the realization that there is a very talented artist living within a mile of my home... I'm wondering if there are others unknown!
What would happen if we occasionally left a piece of our mail art where it would cheer someone up? Maybe at a laundromat, or with a bank teller, or a librarian, etc. Wouldn't have to put our names on it. Maybe just initials... or the mailmesomeart.blogspot.com link...
I'm not trying to start a random art movement, a.k.a. RAA, but think about the possible positive impact there might be from sharing a cheery, and unexpected, bit of art...
I always smile whenever I see painted rocks tucked into tree hollows along the walking path... Just a thought...

Years ago, when I first began making/exchanging quilted postcards, I would also make quilted ATCs and leave one or two on any counter where I was helped to be found later either by the employee who helped me or by the next patron … my way of showing a “Thank You” or just a RAC (Random Act of Kindness). Thank you, Honi, for this reminder….I may begin doing this again🙂. Nancy L.
