NEW STAMPS, NEW RATES 2021

"FOREVER" POST CARD stamps - I love the vivid colors of these barns!!!

Here are some older and new postage stamps that we can use in our frequent mail art swaps.

Denomination Stamps -These bunnies are SO cute!!!

Using one Barn stamp (36-cents) plus one Additional Ounce stamp (20-cents) together gives you 56-cents which is just one cent over the current 55-cent letter rate.

Using TWO Barn stamps (or two fish stamps) together gives you 72-cents, equivalent to the 1st Class rate + Additional Ounce rate (or the "unmachinable" rate).

Okay, enough math for one day...

FOOD LABELS/PACKAGING COLLAGE - Post Card Swap - Postmark by February 22nd

In sympathy for all who have gained weight

during the pandemic and cold winter weather...

let's make up some art featuring FOOD.

Swap participants:  over any background, focus on some food item(s) using labels and/or packaging materials (not too thick/stiff please).

i.e. bananas have labels, oranges have labels, cans & boxes are labeled... etc. 

HINT:  The cut edge of some food boxes can be picked at, and layers peeled apart, to end up with a thinner piece for collage.

MEDIA:  Paper (or plastic? foil?)

TECHNIQUE:  Collage (glue, stitch, etc.)

SIZE PARAMETERS:  6" x 4+1/4"

NEW POSTAGE RATES - January 25, 2021

 This afternoon my postal clerk gave me a copy of the new Rate Change Chart.

 

 Here are changes that affect our mail art the most:

Nonmachinable or 2-ounce First Class went up from 70-cents to 75-cents.

(Additional ounces went up from 15-cents to 20-cents.)

Post card stamps went up from 35-cents to 36-cents.  

Postal supplies will also cost more now.

The good news:

One-ounce First Class Letter Rate is still 55-cents each.

Your stamps that say "FOREVER" will always be good whatever the rates may be, but when you purchase additional ounce stamps, 2-ounce, or post card stamps you will  pay more than you did before.
