Processing the ARTICULATED DOLLS Swap

Hello All,

I waited an extra week for art to arrive and it was a good thing I did.  One of the Bunnies had forgotten its carrot and hippity-hopped back home.

Meanwhile, Bonnie Ballerina decided to participate in a dance recital.  Chambermaid Chimp took on extra cleaning jobs away from home.  Gardener Gisela planted seeds in paper cups on the window sill.

The Clever Cats escaped, sharpened their claws on the porch railings, and started chasing the Racing Rabbits who were having a romp in the yard.  I tried to corral them because, as we all know, rabbits on the loose tend to have more rabbits.

The Beautiful Birds heard some north-bound Canada geese honking loudly overhead, and flew off into the treetops.  I knew it was going to be difficult getting them back in their envelopes in time for the swap closure.

Milly the Mermaid was missing the ocean and somehow slithered to the nearby creek for a swim.  She is currently sitting on a rock in the sun, combing her long blue hair.

Safari Sam marched bravely into the woods looking for mountain lions (and you know what?  He might find one!).  Skelly Bones just wanted to hide out in a closet.  And Cupcake Cate is finishing off her pastry before the big mail-out so the frosting doesn't get smooshed in transit.

I will post a message to the Comments page to let you know when your wonderful swap art is in the mail.  Thanks to all who creatively participated in this swap.  Honi

Four-Format Art Therapy #1 - Postmark by April 13th

Someone out there is ready for a little creative diversion.  So here is a challenge to get you back into your art room.  I hope you have fun with it.

For this group art swap you will be making four (4) pieces of art to swap:
1 POSTCARD
1 ALTERED TAG
1 ENVELOPE
1 TWINCHIE

[Participants, please complete all four steps or we will be shorted during the exchange phase.]
You will be making one of each of the four different format pieces of art.
So, take in a deep breath, let it out slowly and then read carefully as you check out the prompts below:

First,

#1.  MAKE ONE POST CARD:
OPEN THEME- your choice of subject, media, technique
Size:  4+1/4" x 6"

Include your return address/contact info on the back, please.
No postage necessary this time, these will be mailed in an envelope.

Next,

#2.  MAKE ONE ALTERED TAG:  THEME- TEA TIME, COFFEE TIME
Size:  no larger than 3" x 6"
-PROMPTS:  you could incorporate tea tags, empty tea bags or coffee filter paper, use some strong tea or coffee to stain your background.  Spraying/ spritzing/dunking might give good results as well.  Or add some coffee rings :)   (Brown dye, brown ink or walnut ink could be substituted in a pinch.)  Add labels from product packaging... use some tea party images, etc.

TECHNIQUES:  sketch, draw, collage, paint, ink, rubberstamp, etc.
NOTE:  Using string, ribbon or fiber may make your mailing bulkier so extra postage may be needed.

Sign the back of your altered tag and include contact info for your recipient to be able thank you.

Gelli Plate printed envelope, collage, rubber stamps

And then,

#3.  MAKE ONE DECORATED ENVELOPE:
 -OPEN THEME-
-OPEN MEDIA, CHOICE
OF TECHNIQUE, SUBJECT
Personalize a greeting-card type envelope, no larger than 5+1/2" x 8+1/2".  Include your name and contact info either inside the flap or on a small piece of paper inside it.

And finally,

#4.  MAKE ONE TWINCHIE:
THEME- POSTAL/MAILING
Twinchies - rubber stamps, phrasees
Make a 2" x 2" piece of art on sturdy paper/card stock using any medium/ techniques. Feature some postal images, stamps, phrases, etc.  Include your name and contact info on the back.

Gather your four (4) pieces of art.  Protect with waxed paper between pieces if necessary.

ALSO:  Include a large return envelope (okay to fold once) with

  • YOUR name & address on a label centered/to the right
  • at least 70-cents postage on it
  • your return address label in the upper left-hand corner (yes, the post office has become picky about this)
so I can mail the exchanged art to you.
