HOW OLD IS VINTAGE? Post Card Swap - Postmark by Tuesday, February 19th

by Beau
Just how old is "old"?  Fifty years?  One hundred years?  When you think of "Vintage," what comes to mind?  Something from your younger years?  Or from your  grandparents' era?  A wave of nostalgia?  Rust?  Dust?  "Out-of-date?"
Dictionary definitions designate "vintage" to be at least 20 years old, "antique" to be at least 100 years old.

Your "How Old Is Vintage?" swap interpretation is left up to your perspective and perception regarding what feels "Vintage" to you.

Let's search out old images, text, photographs, textiles, papers to create some Vintage-themed art.  Any medium, combination or technique is allowed:  collage, sketching, watercolors, acrylic paint, rubberstamped images, pen and ink, fabrics, stickers, photographs, etc.
This is the perfect excuse to browse through thrift stores or antique shops, or rummage through grandma's desk or attic (with permission first, of course!) for something to spark your creative imagination.

Create up to four (4) post cards with a "Vintage" feel to them.

Idea starters:
old books
letters
sheet music
post cards
ledgers
receipts
postage
illustrations
advertising
clothing patterns
fashion styles
lace
fabric trims

Participants may also use "faux aging" techniques such as coffee-staining, tea-staining, or walnut ink to add distressing to papers or fabrics.  If you don't want to use originals, photocopies should work just as well.
